Robins aren’t the only songbirds springing into action in late March. Local musicians will have the chance to perform live during the Second Annual Opelika Songwriters’ Festival in Downtown Opelika March 26th-28th!
The Details
The Second Annual Opelika Songwriters’ Festival is a joint effort between The Sound Wall and The Arts Association of East Alabama. It will be hosted at more than 10 historic Downtown Opelika venues. If the first songwriters’ festival is an indication of what to expect, then local music lovers can expect more than 30 singer-songwriters!
The Second Annual Opelika Songwriters’ Festival is set to kick-off Friday, March 26th, at 5 p.m. Festivities last through Sunday, March 28th. “Like” the Opelika Songwriters’ Festival Facebook page to stay updated with the latest news and schedules.
Behind The Sound Wall
Owners of The Sound Wall, Rob and Jen Slocumb, are no strangers to music. The husband-wife team creates and performs music as the folk-rock duo Martha’s Trouble. But they don’t just make music. They also support it and record it at The Sound Wall, which is an event center and a recording studio in Opelika.
Venues at a Glance
While the exact line-up and schedule will be released closer to the event, you can at least look forward to visiting several places in Opelika’s entertainment district. Here’s the list so far: Resting Pulse Brewing Company, Ampersand Wine, The Bottling Plant Event Center, Chirpwood Art Gallery, John Emerald Distillery, Sneak & Dawdle, Irish Bred Pub, Eighth & Rail, Ma Fia’s Outdoor Patio and The Sound Wall.
Summary
Just because Phil said we’d have six more weeks of winter doesn’t mean you can’t spring into action early! From making plans to support live music to making a move, it’s time to get active!
