On Campus: New College of Education Building at Auburn University

new College of Education building at Auburn University

Exciting news and big plans are in store for one major college on campus. According to reports, a new College of Education building at Auburn University officially received the final approval from the Auburn  University Board of Trustees last month.

About the new College of Education building

The new College of Education building at Auburn University means several changes for the college. For starters, the 167,000-square-foot facility will provide a centralized location and hub for the college’s students, faculty, and staff.

Currently, the College of Education is mainly housed in Haley Center. But it is also spread across several other campus buildings.

After the construction of the new facility, only the college’s School of Kinesiology will remain in the building it has resided in since 2013.

Plans for the $77 million building include modern, collaborative classrooms, research spaces, instructional labs, up-to-date technology, and administrative spaces for faculty and staff.

The new College of Education building at Auburn University will be funded by a combination of gift funds, university bond funds, and Public School and College Authority funds.

More about the project

If you’ve been on campus recently, you may have noticed the demolition of the Hill Residence Halls on West Samford Avenue. Once demolition is complete, construction can begin on the new College of Education building!

It will be located on the corner of West Samford Avenue and Duncan Drive, across from the Telfair Peet Theatre.

As of now, the projected completion date is January 2025. The move-in date for the AU College of Education is tentatively scheduled for April 2025.
