Dreaming of having your own startup? Lucky for you, The Yard Incubator Space in Auburn is now open and ready to help you and your company!

About The Yard

Last month, the doors officially opened at The Yard, a new business incubator and resource center for local startups. Business incubators offer startups, entrepreneurs and small businesses support, expertise and all the tools necessary to succeed in the business market.

Located at 2175 Pumphrey Avenue, this new space will provide five office suites, two manufacturing bays and shared areas in order to encourage collaborations among tenants.

At the grand opening, Mayor Ron Anders expressed with great pride the excitement and hope he has for this new development in our city. “I’m excited to unveil Auburn’s newest incubator space and celebrate another way Auburn is playing a key role in developing businesses in our community,” said Mayor Anders.

He also went on to express that the partnerships with Auburn University to educate, equip and empower startups during their development have enabled our community to create a healthy entrepreneurial ecosystem that will only further the growth of tech-based companies in Auburn.

More about The Yard

The concept for The Yard Incubator Space in Auburn came initially from a design-build competition among Auburn University architecture and building science students.

The winning team imagined a sustainable structure made from recycled shipping containers, which architect John Randall Wilson and HBS Construction then brought to life.

Keeping sustainability and innovation as the motivation for this project, the finished design used 10 recycled sea shipping containers that were insulated and reflect the most recent energy codes.
